Guiding Principles
Leadership Through Achievement
Leading by example: not telling others what to
do, but rather setting the example so others will want to
follow.
Team Spirit
Working together as a team, respecting and
supporting each other, and the sport of swimming, and encouraging
positive goal setting and achievement.
Commitment
Achieving goals through focus and commitment;
teaching our swimmers the importance of the road less
traveled.
Self-Worth
Recognizing that everyone is important and each
person has a role and responsibility to themselves, the team, and
their family. You have a voice.
Self-Confidence
Feeling good and knowing about yourself results
in recognizing your strengths and weaknesses. Improving strengths
and overcoming weaknesses lets you know you can do
anything.
Self-Improvement
Goal setting and hard work motivates self-improvement. How can you
improve if you don’t know where you are going? Challenge
yourself and work hard.
SouthCoast Aquatics Team Quote
“You can have anything you want – if you want it badly
enough. You can be anything you set out to be, do anything
you set out to accomplish if you hold that desire with singleness
of purpose.”

SCA was established by Coach David Ponte and area families
who wanted to provide the best opportunities for their children to
enjoy the sport of competitive swimming. Since our
inception, we have had swimmers qualify for USA-S Sectional
Championships the New England Eastern Zone All-Star Team, along
with swimmers who have won individual titles at the New England and
District Championships and Age Group Championships. We have
also had swimmers who a have earned New England
Swimming’s “Top 10 award”. This award is
presented to athletes who have achieved one of the ten fastest
overall times in an event during any meet held in New England
during the season.
SCA is known throughout the area for a 1st class year
round swim program. We offer a guided age group program for
children age five and up, and can accommodate swimmers of all
levels from beginning to nationally ranked competitors. When a
young person becomes a member of SCA, we try to teach them the
values of sportsmanship and teamwork. Our program helps to
provide physical, emotional, and intellectual skills that will last
a lifetime.
The founding philosophy for creating SCA is to provide a
competitive swimming program where area youth are able to
participate in the sport regardless of ability or commitment
level. We want all children to experience and fall in love
with the sport. We want to provide the best opportunities for
individuals to reach their maximum potential on the local, regional
and national levels. In doing this, we are committed to
providing a staff that is on the cutting edge in all areas of
training. Finally, our program will put athletes first,
winning second. We will be primarily concerned with the process of
developing our swimmers as athletes and as people.
Vision / Mission
To provide the communities of the SouthCoast Region with
aquatic programs that promote, foster, support and encourage
our athletes to achieve excellence in the sport of swimming and in
life.
